3 Top Interior Design Colors Of The Year for 2024
If you love color, you're going to love this blog post. Why? Because it's that time of year again: paint companies Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams, and Pantone Color Institute, have released their Colors of the Year for 2024. I’m excited to show them to you because they’re fun, happy and welcoming!
Benjamin Moore 825 Blue Nova
Blue Nova 825 is such a joyful shade of blue! It’s not a light sky blue, and it’s more bold than navy. It’s a rich, mid-tone color with clear violet undertones that steer it away from straight-up primary blue. The violet warms it up and makes Blue Nova inviting and peaceful.
This color definitely has a presence but it doesn’t overpower, especially as part of a complimentary scheme. Blue Nova loves a shot of orangy-rust or deep coral to balance it out. Little pops of warm sunny yellow would add some sparkly finishing touches. Kylie M., my go-to paint color expert says, “It’s an alluring mid-tone shade of purple-blue…thanks to the degree of color (chroma) in Blue Nova, it shows up like a vision in a dark room, bringing energy and personality.”
If you’re not ready for wall-to-wall Blue Nova, try it on trim, doors or wainscotting for less of a commitment. Or treat your ceiling to this color; after all, it was inspired by the night sky and the celestial universe beyond our planet.
Sherwin Williams 6239 Upward
Light and airy Upward is a faded denim blue with gray and violet undertones. This atmospheric shade pairs beautifully with pastel colors for a decidedly dreamy color palette. As carefree and tranquil as a cloudless blue sky, Upward invites us to relax and clear our minds.
This is a serene color that recalls the healing effects of spending time by the ocean. It can read baby blue in a very tasteful way that’s fresh and light, not cloying. Upward gives a sense of calm because of its undertones. It’s a transition color, straying from the boring all-white trend into a very livable, actual color choice.
After a decade of non-color whites and grays, this flexible blue carries us into the beachy Coastal style that’s eclipsing Everything Farmhouse. Upward is stunning on cabinetry in the kitchen or bath, and it livens up a laundry room or office. It works equally well in a nursery or a grown-up bedroom oasis, and crisp white trim frames it perfectly.
Pantone Peach Fuzz 13-1023
In our world that values external achievement and constant productivity, Pantone’s Color of the Year offers the antidote. Peach Fuzz speaks to our collective desire for warm, human connection. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, says “it’s a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body and soul.”
Equal parts pink and orange, Peach Fuzz evokes the beauty of a sunrise or sunset, nurturing us and recalling moments of tranquility. This Color of the Year lets us reflect on our inner values and wellbeing, reminding us to cherish “...the warmth and comfort of spending time with friends and family, or simply taking a moment of time to ourselves” during our fast-paced modern lives.
Give your guests (and yourself) a big warm welcome with an accent wall of Peach Fuzz in the living room, or comfort your little one in the nursery with this gender-neutral shade. If an accent wall isn’t your thing, use this color in fabrics and other soft goods like throw pillows and bedding. In fact, Spoonflower and Ruggable have teamed up with Pantone to offer fabrics, wallpapers and rugs that include Peach Fuzz.
HEADS UP!
Whenever you’re planning to change your wall color, it’s essential to test the paints completely before committing! The bigger the samples, the better. Never make a decision from the tiny paint chips from the store.
View the samples on every wall, in every kind of light–morning, noon and night (with lamps on), sunny day, cloudy day. This process will take many days, so practice your patience. But the benefit is that you’ll absolutely know which colors are right for you and your home.

Until Next Time,
